The European Commission has announced funding for three major research projects designed to promote innovation in the meat and livestock sector. The funding will come from EU’s outgoing Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development.
Some of the prioritised areas that will be funded are:
- Improved efficiency at the slaughtering stage, focused on developing innovative ecological technologies for processing animal by-products.
- Making systems for processing manure more efficient
- Turning waste into energy by transforming food and plant waste into high-value graphitic carbon and renewable hydrogen.
