Analysis: The final Paris climate deal

This Carbon Brief analysis is a very useful summary of the climate agreement that was reached in Paris at the COP21 on 12th December 2015.

The brief analyses the agreement and the temperature goals agreed, the long term emission goals of the agreement, the ambition levels, the critical wording on finance and loss and damage as well as other heated topics such as transparency during the negotiations. In terms of temperature goals, the agreement states that there is consensus on limiting temperatures to “well below 2C”, and that there should be “efforts” to limit it to 1.5C.

This brief also includes commentary from researchers and some audio from the press conference with Amber Rudd, the UK’s secretary of state for energy and climate change.
