Communicating climate change: handbook for IPCC scientists

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has brought out a handbook to help its scientists communicate climate change issues effectively.

The six key principles it identifies are:

  1. Communicate confidently
  2. Talk about the real world rather than abstract ideas
  3. Connect with what matters to your audience
  4. Tell a human story
  5. Lead with what you know
  6. Use the most effective visual communication
