Britain must take urgent steps to secure a safe and sustainable food supply according to a new report published by the Institute for Public Policy Research North (ippr north). Ippr north says that food is a major determinant of the UK’s social, economic and environmental wellbeing and that greater priority and coordination is needed on food rather than applying a static food policy. The report identifies four key areas for action: Food security, food poverty, food citizenship and food communication.
