On the 16 October 2008, the UK's Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband committed the UK to cutting GHG emissions by 80% on 1990 levels by 2050 as a major contribution to a global deal on climate change. This increases the previous commitment of 60% - a target which covered only CO2. The new commitment therefore ups the target and includes all 6 Kyoto basket gases. To read the press release see here.
