The European Commission has published a report on the relationship between soil and climate change (CLIMSOIL) which underlines the crucial role that soils can play in mitigating climate change.

The European Shopping Baskets Program (ESB) is a joint project of EUROPEN (The European Organization for Packaging and the Environment) and STFI-Packforsk AB Stockholm have published a comprehensive study of how much packaging a typical household shopping basket contains and what materials it is made of.

This paper, submitted by the Food and Agriculture Organisation to the UNFCCC Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-term Cooperative action, highlights ways in which the potential of agricultural mitigation in general, and from smallholder agriculture in particular, may be realized under a future global climate change agreement.

This report is published by the Economist Intelligence Unit and sponsored by the Carbon Trust, KPMG, SAP and Shell. Part one sets the context - the Copenhagen conference in December - and then outlines and discusses what actions are being taken by the main GHG emitting countries to reduce emissions. It has sections on the US, the EU (counting as one entity), China, India and Japan, with extremely useful summary boxes bulletpointing for each the main energy/climate change related initiatives instigated. It also gives a view of likely approaches in coming years.
