'Serious games' can describe any kind of games with a purpose beyond play: teaching, social learning, dialogue facilitation, informing strategy and exploring possible futures. Serious games have a long history, and include diverse forms ranging from educational games for schools to tabletop wargames carried out by NATO to explore risks and tactics, from roleplaying games created to share the lived experience of abusive relationships to video games designed to advocate for ecosocialism. In recent years, researchers and activists in food systems have begun to explore the exciting potential of using games in food systems advocacy, dialogue and research.

Games at TABLE is our hub for serious games about food systems, where you'll find a selection of games created by researchers and activists to print and play, as well as articles about the games and their creation. All of the games here are free to play, and we're constantly adding more!

This project is being carried out in conjunction with Federico Andreotti of Wageningen University and Research.
