How can feminist perspectives illuminate our vision(s) for meat?
In a piece originally published by the Feminist Food Journal, Tamsin Blaxter uses a feminist lens to examine how gender shapes the ways in which we interpret and project certain futures for meat. The Feminist Food Journal (FFJ) is an online publication that explores food and culture through an intersectional and global feminist lens.An audio version of this essay will be available from FFJ shortly. Towards gender equality in forestry, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture
This review article examines the impact of gender in the forestry, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture sectors and provides empirical evidence for initiatives which have sought to redress the negative and inequitable disparities. The paper provides an overview of the major issues of women in these sectors and provides useful examples of successful programs in low- and middle-income countries. Women play a significant role in these sectors, but their work is often invisible, unregulated and vulnerable. The article calls for further efforts to eliminate gender-blind and biased policy and governance and expand and share successful initiatives.

Addressing gender inequalities for more sustainable food systems
This literature review explores the extent to which gender inequalities are considered in climate change policies, investments, and interventions related to food systems. Climate change has differential impacts on men and women. Whilst the findings suggest a growing body of literature related to potential interventions, more work is required to fully assess the trade offs and barriers of actions aimed at improving gender differentiated climate outcomes. There is also a considerable lack of research on the intersection of gender, climate change and food systems, with most previous research limited to looking at the role of gender in agricultural production.
