Circular economy principles for a resilient seafood sector
The paper, co-authored by TABLE member Rebecca St. Clair, reviews the literature on business models in the seafood sector (covering both fisheries and aquaculture) and draws links between the principles of circular economy and resilience through a new Circular Economy Resilience Framework for Business Models (CERF-BM). It hypothesises that seafood businesses could increase their resilience (i.e. the ability to keep functioning despite external shocks and pressures) by using circular economy principles.

Website: Our Changing Menu
Academics and students from Cornell University have released a website, Our Changing Menu, that tells the story of climate change using food. Aimed at a general audience and accompanying the book of the same name, it explains climate change, describes how the production of foods such as avocados, olive oil and beef might change, and offers solutions. A searchable food ingredient database, which will continue to be updated, shows how selected ingredients are expected to be affected by climate change.

Blog post: Complacency as a barrier to building resilience
In this blog post, published by the Resilience of the UK Food System in a Global Context research programme, Dr John Ingram of the University of Oxford’s Environmental Change Institute argues that, contrary to public perceptions, the Australian food system is at growing risk of disruption from droughts, floods, an aging farmer population, or potential shocks such as a reduced ability to export beef to China due to bluetongue disease.
