Job: Research Associate in Dietary Environmental Impacts, University of Manchester, UK

Date
The University of Manchester

A Research Associate position is available in the agrifood group in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at The University of Manchester. You will work with Prof. Sarah Bridle who leads the data science workpackage of the ‘Transformations to Regenerative Food Systems (TReFS)’ project led by Prof. Bob Doherty (University of York and policy fellow at UK Government Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)).

The TReFS programme of work aims to co-create regenerative food systems towards one that optimises health and the environment.  It is focused on the Yorkshire food system, targeting transformation within early years and school settings, but with the goal of developing evidence and policies that are transferable across multiple settings.

You will work under the supervision of Prof. Sarah Bridle and need to connect with stakeholders and academics across the food system. One goal of the work will be to build a dashboard-interfaced quantitative model for the whole food system (from ‘farm to flush’), which allows stakeholders (including politicians and the public) to move sliders to vary interventions, and to see the impact of these interventions on a number of indicators including climate impacts and health.
